easter

We had Easter dinner at the McGoodens' house with the Kelleys & Henrys. It was a fabulous spread. The 5 eldest boys partook in a massive egg hunt in the backyard. Drew & I are still enjoying the candy. You can see more pics on Flickr.

Benjamin went swimming for the first time Easter weekend. The boys were able to see their cousins Travis, Michael, & Davis. Benjamin was chill as usual. Even when his little lips were shivering from the cold. Drew was an oxymoron: he either wanted to be held tight in the water or he wanted to jump from the edge to anyone who'd look his way.

come and get it

That's what my grandma would yell when she made my favorite dessert... Blue Bell vanilla ice cream drizzled with just the right amount of chocolate syrup & then stirred all together. Pee Wee (from Pee Wee's Playhouse) used to call it chocolate soup. As a little girl I would often spend Saturday nights at my grandparents' house and she would make my ice cream. At my request she would stand in the kitchen with my bowl & yell, "Come and get it!" Then I would come running from the other side of the house at full speed to get my treat. I have no idea where I got that from, but it was our special ritual.

Grandma Ina passed away suddenly in her sleep last week. I have debated about rather I should blog about it or not, but finally decided that it would be a good outlet for me. Its really hard losing a grandparent. I will always remember her playful smile, quiet demeanor, and how she would let me rummage around in her dresser and closet. As my uncle put it, "She is in her new house now."

six months

Yesterday was the big day... Benjamin turned half-a-year old! Even though I've done this once before, I'm still amazed at how time flies by. Here's a quick update: sitting up by himself; not much interest in crawling except that he seems to be squirming around in his bed at night; eating pureed fruits & veggies; smiling, laughing, & babbling; blowing bubbles... that's about all I can think of right now. We celebrated Benjamin's half-birthday & the beautiful spring day with his first wagon ride.

the business of being born

I finally got to see it this weekend and all I have to say is... well, you need to see it for yourself! The Business of Being Born is a documentary that promotes getting informed about one of the biggest events of your life. Like the movie explains, Americans take more time to research buying a new car or cell phone than about having a baby.

momnesia

Lindsey was recently telling me about "momnesia." According to this article it's "a state of the female brain that is a bit forgetful after she's had a baby." I wonder how long a woman can claim this condition. Lately my momnesia has resulted in almost leaving Benjamin at Mother's Day Out with Drew and washing a dirty diaper in the washing machine (luckily it was just pee). What about you?

random life in the davis house

I was just downloading some random pics off the camera & thought I'd share a few of what I found.

I just had to capture Benjamin playing on our bed in all his glory. What a sweetie!

Spring is starting to peek it's head in our direction so on Saturday we attempted a picnic at the park. It was a busy day for us - celebrating with our good friends the Kelleys in becoming debt-free & then three of us getting hair cuts. By the time we picked up some sandwiches & made it to the park, it was getting dark, cold, & windy. Not so fun. However, we decided to let Benjamin try the swings out for the first time. He didn't like it at first (or was just cold since he lost a sock somewhere).

Then winter reared it's ugly head at us again Tuesday. I used to love snowy days. Now it just means no Mother's Day Out. I attempted to get the boys out in the snow before it all melted away. Benjamin was not happy about it at all. I unfortunately never thought about buying mittens or gloves in the fall and he suffered the consequences. After snapping a few quick pics of the boys I ran Benjamin inside. He played happily on the living room floor with some toys while I ran around with Drew outside for a little while.

This is Drew rocking Bunny Bear. Drew's really been into make believe lately. Bunny Bear, Emmit, his duck, & Elmo have been swaddled, rocked, had diapers put on, gone on walks in the stroller, & eaten in the high chair. Luckily, he's only tried nursing Elmo once (& that was a while back)!
