benjamin's mysterious middle name

We chose the name Benjamin quite some time ago, but have not been able to agree on a middle name. David would like it to be Eric, which I do like. However, it would give him the initials BED. This name is significant in two ways: 1. It's also my brother's middle name 2. Eric Davis is David's all-time favorite baseball player. The second option we have come up with is Henry (initials BHD - nothing weird about that). This is also my Grandpa Vernon's middle name. So I'm asking you to weigh in on your thoughts... which name do you prefer? do you have another suggestion?

coffee

I don't drink coffee very often, but for some reason I have been enjoying a cup or two at home on occasion. I've tried twice this weekend & both times the filter has folded up on itself allowing the grinds to fall down into the pot. I can't seem to figure this out. Please help! I'm only making about 3-4 cups so I'm not sure if it's just the small quantity of grinds or what. I know there are lots of coffee gurus out there & I'm seeking your help!

PS. Sorry to disappoint the grandparents with no pics of Drew :-)

not for the squeamish

We had to take Drew to the emergency room for the second time. He went during the first year of his life & now he's gone during this second year... I wonder if there's a pattern there. Our little Drew Bear is quite the climber & adventurer. This time it resulted in his getting pretty bloody. We had left the jogging stroller on the tile floor in dining area & Drew climbed in. He was standing on the seat facing backwards which tipped the stroller back. His face hit the ceramic tile, "Splat!" When David scooped him up, his shirt immediately got soaked with Drew's blood. I was freaking out. He was bleeding quite heavily from his nose & mouth. After a minute's consideration, we wrestled Drew into his car seat & sped to the ER. Luckily, nothing was hurt too badly: no stitches, no broken teeth, no broken nose. Just a really bad cut on his tongue. I thought for sure he had bit his tongue in two.

If you look closely, you can see the cut on Drew's tongue. It was pretty swollen that day & he had some trouble talking clearly.

He's been more clingy, whiny, & tired lately. I guess that's not bad, for a trip to the ER. It could have been worse.

If you are interested in seeing a pic of just how bloody things were click the link below. WARNING - This pic is not for the "queasy stomach" crowd.

tulsa zoo

Last weekend we went to the Tulsa Zoo with the Kelleys & McGoodens. It was Drew's first visit to a zoo & he did really well. He loved looking at the animals from afar, but when we entered the petting zoo, he didn't want much to do with the goats & sheep. His favorite part was the "water pad" (I'm not really sure what to call it). It was a large soft pad with all kinds of water sprinklers. We didn't know it was there so we weren't prepared with swimsuits. Luckily we had packed an extra set of clothes.

the green room

Drew's new room is finally under way. David along with help from the Kelleys & Rowleys painted his room green this past weekend. (Thanks for the help guys!!!) On Sunday night when we got home from church, we thought we'd get all the plates put back on with Drew's help.

Our little monkey climbing the ladder.

Getting a lesson on the screwdriver from Daddy.

He thought he had it all figured out. Just a regular handyman in his diaper!

Pole vaulter or cave man? That'd be an easy & cheap Halloween costume!
